Telangana Farmer Dies in Crop Residue Burning Accident

A 74-year-old farmer died in a tragic accident in Telangana’s Hanamkonda district on Sunday, May 10. The victim, identified as Goli Jayapal Reddy, was a resident of Koppula village in Shayampet mandal, where he cultivated maize. The incident occurred around 6:30 pm when Reddy was burning crop residue on his farmland.

According to reports, the fire spread unexpectedly while Reddy was engaged in the burning process. As he attempted to escape the flames, he fell and sustained severe burn injuries. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries during transit.

Local authorities confirmed the incident and registered a case of suspicious death under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanahita (BNS). An official from the Shayampet Mandal Police stated that Reddy died due to the severe burns he sustained in the accident. The case is currently under investigation to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
