Pune Police Detain Woman in Connection to NEET-UG 2026 Paper Leak

A woman was detained by Pune Police for her alleged connection to the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak case. She was handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for further investigation. The city police commissioner stated she was detained from Bibvewadi, but refused to disclose her exact role in the incident. The exam, held on May 3, was canceled on May 12 due to paper leak allegations.

The cancellation left over 22 lakh medical aspirants anxious about exam dates and processes. A medical association has moved the Supreme Court alleging systemic failure in conducting the NEET-UG 2026 exam. They seek reforms and a complete overhaul of the national testing framework. The Federation of All India Medical Association suggests replacing the National Testing Agency (NTA) with a more robust and autonomous body. They also want a high-powered monitoring committee to oversee the exam's re-conduct.

AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal urged Gen Z youth to ensure accountability for the paper leak. He claimed recurrent leaks shake confidence and questioned past CBI investigations' effectiveness. Kejriwal cited leaks since 2014 and alleged several occurred in BJP-ruled states. He emphasized that these incidents affected the future of millions of students. The CBI is currently probing the matter following the exam's cancellation over irregularity allegations.
