PMJ Jewellery Robbery: Karimnagar Police Trace Suspects to West Bengal

In a significant breakthrough, the Karimnagar police have traced the suspects of the May 3 daylight robbery at a PMJ jewellery showroom in Hyderabad to West Bengal. The six-member gang, comprising individuals from West Bengal, Bihar, and Rajasthan, is believed to be responsible for the heist. Authorities suspect the group has also been involved in previous robberies across northern, northeast, and central India.

The accused had meticulously planned the robbery, posing as mechanics and residing in Peddapalli to avoid suspicion. They used public transport and traveled through Jagtial, Siddipet, and Karimnagar for a month before executing the crime. After looting the jewellery showroom, they destroyed their mobile phones to evade GPS tracking. Police have launched a massive manhunt in Bihar and Rajasthan to apprehend the remaining gang members.

Investigators suspect that another accomplice assisted the gang by arranging a heavy vehicle to transport both the criminals and the stolen valuables. So far, police have recovered a motorcycle believed to have been used in the crime from Dharmapuri Ghat, while another white bike remains untraced. Officials have hinted that the investigation is nearing a breakthrough, though no official statement has been released yet.

On the day of the incident, one of the assailants entered the store posing as a customer and requested to see a chain. Shortly after, four more individuals followed him inside and began attacking the employees. When the security guard intervened, two of the robbers produced guns, fired shots, and escaped with nearly a kilogram of jewellery from the display counters. At least four employees were injured in the firing and have been hospitalized.
