Red Fort Blast: NIA Presents 7,500-Page Chargesheet Against 10
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) filed a 7,500-page chargesheet against 10 individuals linked to a deadly car bomb explosion near Delhi's Red Fort on November 10, 2025, which killed 11 people and caused widespread destruction. The blast, involving a Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED), triggered a nationwide security alert.
All accused were associated with Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGuH), an Al-Qaida affiliate declared a terrorist entity in 2018. The chargesheet, filed under multiple anti-terror and criminal laws, includes charges against the alleged mastermind, Dr. Umer Un Nabi, who died in the blast. Investigations spanned six regions, involving 588 witness statements and over 395 documents.
Investigators revealed the group, motivated by extremist ideology, regrouped in 2022 and launched "Operation Heavenly Hind" to overthrow India's government. They recruited members, spread propaganda, and manufactured IEDs using chemicals. The Red Fort blast used TATP, a volatile explosive. The NIA identified Nabi via DNA and found plans for rocket and drone-mounted IEDs targeting security forces.
The module, including medical professionals, procured weapons like AK-47 rifles. The NIA took over the case, arrested 11 people, and continues tracing absconding suspects. The group planned to expand operations before being dismantled.
