MP Woman Accused, Harassed Over Beef Transport Suspicion
A Muslim woman was harassed at Harda railway station in Madhya Pradesh over suspicion of carrying beef. The woman, Zahida, was traveling with around 30 kilograms of meat that she stated was buffalo meat and not beef. She explained she brought the meat from Burhanpur while visiting a relative who had passed away and intended to sell it for her daughter's treatment. An unidentified group approached Zahida after receiving information she was carrying beef. The men got into a heated argument, accusing her of illegal transport before the police could intervene. Onlookers gathered around the woman and started questioning her, causing some passengers to move away due to fear.
Another woman traveling with Zahida, named Rahat, fled when the situation grew tense, leaving her bags behind. Zahida said Rahat got scared when people started shouting and using harsh words. Although police restored peace at the station, the group went to the city police station and demanded strict action against Zahida. Despite the confrontation and demands for action, Zahida maintained that she was carrying buffalo meat throughout the incident.
