Uttar Pradesh Orders 'Conversion Prevention Cells' in Medical Colleges Amid Allegations
The Uttar Pradesh government has ordered medical and dental colleges to establish conversion prevention cells following allegations at KGMU and PGI. Governor Anandiben Patel directed strengthened surveillance across higher medical institutions. Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University instructed affiliated colleges to form dedicated monitoring cells and submit compliance reports. These cells will monitor suspicious activities and conduct awareness programs for students, resident doctors, and staff. Officials aim to ensure safe educational environments and strict action on complaints. KGMU will form teams of 10 to 15 senior doctors reporting quarterly to the Governor. Awareness efforts will particularly target vulnerable students, especially minor girls. The initiative expands administrative oversight across Uttar Pradesh's medical education sector.
