Delhi Court Reserves Order on Bail Pleas of Umar Khalid, Sharjeel Imam After Nearly Six Years in Jail Without Trial

A Delhi court has reserved its order on fresh bail pleas of anti-CAA activists Umar Khalid and Sharjeel Imam, who have spent nearly six years in jail without trial in a 2020 Delhi riots case. The defence argued that prolonged detention violates their right to personal liberty, citing Supreme Court rulings on bail under the UAPA. The order is expected later Saturday or Monday.
