West Bengal Government Approves Land Transfer to BSF for Border Fencing

The newly formed BJP government under Suvendu Adhikari approved the transfer of land to the Border Security Force (BSF) in its first Cabinet meeting. This decision aims to facilitate the construction of fencing along the Bangladesh border.

Adhikari stated that this move is vital for national security and criticized the previous government for delaying the process, alleging it was done to protect illegal infiltrators. He announced that the process will commence immediately and is expected to be completed within 45 days.

The BJP and the Union government have consistently campaigned on claims of Bangladeshi Muslims illegally entering and residing in India. However, critics argue that the party often mislabels Bengali-origin Muslims with valid Indian documents as "Bangladeshis."
