Amit Shah Pursues 100% New Criminal Law Implementation and 25% Conviction Rate Boost
Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced plans to fully implement three new criminal laws—the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam—within one year. These laws, effective since July 1, 2024, aim to expedite case disposal up to the Supreme Court within three years and increase the conviction rate by 25%. Speaking at the Intelligence Bureau's conference, Shah emphasized faster justice delivery, stronger internal security, and technological integration via databases like CCTNS and NatGrid. He also highlighted efforts to address Naxalism, terrorism, and border security, alongside repatriating 274 fugitives since 2019.
