India's School Toilet Crisis: 98,592 Schools Lack Girls' Toilets, 61,540 Have None

A NITI Aayog report on India's school education system reveals significant infrastructure gaps. Nearly 98,592 government schools lack functional girls' toilets, and 61,540 have no usable toilets. Around 1.19 lakh schools lack electricity, and 14,505 lack functional water sources. Over 1 lakh schools operate with only one teacher. Enrollment dropped from 71% in 2005 to 49.24% in 2024-25.
