Tragic Roof Collapse: Family of Four Perishes in Moratagi Village Downpour

In a tragic incident in Moratagi village, Almel taluk of Vijayapura district, four members of a family died when their house roof collapsed during heavy rain on Thursday night. The victims included Gurunath Badiger (35), his wife Jyoti Badiger (28), and their daughters Kalamma Badiger (13) and Keerthi Badiger (9).

According to initial reports, Gurunath had been renovating his own house, so the family had temporarily moved to an old rented house in the village. Heavy rain hit the region on Wednesday night, and the old structure could not withstand the impact. The roof suddenly collapsed while the family was asleep inside.

All four were trapped under the debris and died on the spot before help could arrive. Personnel from the Sindagi Police Station and fire and emergency services rushed to the site and launched rescue operations. Officials continued efforts to remove debris and recover the bodies from the collapsed structure.

The tragic death of the entire family has cast a pall of gloom over Moratagi village. Grieving relatives and villagers gathered near the site as scenes of mourning and emotional outbursts unfolded following the incident.
